Irish-based mezzo-soprano from Ukraine, performing opera and concert repertoire. Her artistic focus lies in dramaturgy, vocal colour and expressive text, rooted in the bel canto tradition.
About
Artist profile
Olha Palazhchenko is a low mezzo-soprano, Irish-based and originally from Ukraine, performing opera and concert repertoire. Her voice is characterised by a warm, dark and velvety timbre in the lower and middle registers, a confident and fearless upper register, and a wide vocal range of three octaves. Her singing is marked by a strong sense of dramaturgy, rich vocal colour and close attention to musical and poetic text.
Her artistic work is rooted in the bel canto tradition. Olha places particular emphasis on the psychological depth of the characters whose voices she embodies, striving to gain a profound understanding of their inner world and to convey their emotional truth. Her dramatic range is as broad as her vocal one: she feels equally at home in comic and dramatic roles, as well as in the performance of sacred music.
She is currently based in Dublin, where she performs regularly in opera and concert projects and collaborates with pianists, conductors and ensembles in both large-scale and chamber settings.
Alongside her stage work, Olha is actively engaged in concert and song recital performance, presenting programmes that explore dramatic narrative, poetic text and vocal character within the classical repertoire.
